This vessel was re-powed in the early 1980s with a Universal Diesel model 5424 engine. The engine is a mechanically injected diesel with indirect cooling. A common and reliable propulsion source for sailboats this size. Power is transferred to the shaft via a Hurth reversing marine transmission to her folding propeller. The engine has over 3000 hours but is starting reliably and running strong.
The boat has DC and AC electrical systems. There is a Freedom Marine 1000 Watt inverter mounted under the companionway. Shore power is distributed by an AC panel located in the galley. Built in outlets through the cabin are powered by the shore power connection.
DC circuits are powered from a distribution panel at the nav station. The DC panel and engine energized by a two position battery selector switch. The boat's two batteries can be isolated or combined with the battery selector switch. Batteries are an Ultima Blue starting battery and Dyno deep cycle group 31 wet cell.

Total LOA for moorage purposes is 35'10" taken from the builder's specifications.
Hull Construction is done in fiberglass with areas of balsa coring. The hull and deck are joined at the gunwale with glue and fasteners clamped through an aluminum toe rail. Below the waterline her design has a fin keel and separate rudder. On deck, she is steered with a wheel mounted to a binnacle with engine controls, compass, and GPS. Just forward are the jib/Genoa sheet winches. The traveller is just forward of the cockpit and companionway and the mainsheet is sheeted to a winch on the cabin top through a rope clutch. The interior is constructed with a fiberglass grid holding wood panels and cabinets. Her cabin has been kept in good condition and has little or no oder. Aesthetically, she looks much younger than her age thanks to an Awlgrip paint job in 2012. Her windows have been replaced and bedded with butyl tape and caulking. Her owners have worked to keep this boat leak free and dry.
Waterline Boats / Boatshed does not independently verify capacities and other measurements, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

The C&C 36 is laid out with a forward head arrangement, with saloon mid ships and the galley, nav area, and quarterberth most aft in the boat. In the bow is a V-berth forward of a hanging locker and head. Her saloon has settees on both port and starboard. Shelves are outboard of the settees. Sliders and high fiddles keep the items stored in them secure in heeling conditions. The port settee converts to a double berth with an insert and cushion.
Hot and cold pressure water runs to sinks in the galley and head. The galley sink is also equipped with a foot pump system. Fresh water is stored in three tanks fitted in the boat. This boat is equipped with a Vacuflush toilet system. It uses fresh water but is low volume per flush and generally low odor because the waste is kept under vacuum. The enclosed head is located just forward of the mast on port.

Anchor locker access is through a large hatch on the bow. Reliefs in the hatch allow the anchor to stay on her roller on the bow with the hatch closed. Her Lewmar electric windlass is mounted on a steel bracket and the locker is large enough to store the anchor chain and rode along with a couple of fenders.
