Built for C Thomas Clagett Jr, an American businessman in 1976, this 72' ketch has had a fascinating history! Built at Derecktor Shipyard (known as America's most accomplished boatbuilder), her early life was spent around Florida and the Bahamas where having a centreboard made cruising that area accessible for a large yacht.

She came across the Atlantic and made her way to the Isle of Wight. Her last outing was in 2020 when she sailed across the channel. She is now afloat and does need to be moved from the marina on sale completion.

There is a lot of boat here, she has huge liveaboard potential, albeit there is plenty of work to be done but she appears solid and certainly sits afloat happily. The yard have had the engine running and the majority of her equipment tested over the last few months and gradually we are finding out more information which will be added to the listing. Historic paperwork is limited but what we have can be sent on request.

Viewings are welcomed but the boat MUST be moved from the marina on completion and she CANNOT be lifted or slipped locally

Hello Corinne,I can see that my comments where removed on the actual state of the boat. Very disappointing as this means that you are misinforming potential clients . You did not update the comments of the listing with my original feedback after i viewed her and walked away from concluding the purchase.

Below my original feedback to you dating the 25th of June .

as promised a list of defects to the Anore that are important to mention

-Impacting the seaworthiness should be fixed either before moving her but latest at a haul out.
-- system controlling the propeller pitch out of service ,electric motor has been taking apart and is scattered in parts in the engine room. Manually turning the rotor of the electric motor was without success which makes me think the system might be seized but at least obstructed to operate.
-- System to operate the centreboard is completely stuck. Unable to lower using the systems available on deck and in saloon. Important to see if this can be fixed before moving to a yard as it will impact how it will have to sit in a cradle if work needs to be done on .
--Windows in saloon, some of them have multiple cracks through and through. If moved to a yard on the island then repair can wait until then but should be fixed before taking her out to sea.
--Electrical system. To assure no fire brakes out a minimum of electric systems should be should be operated but the ones to use important to navigating should be checked, cleaned or rewired. Many systems have problems with short circuit When connecting the shore power cable i had the impression to smell burning cables so i disconnected as quick as possible again.
-- Bilge pumps , may need rewiring some of them could not get any of them to work, bilge alarm , etc in operative . Should be operational before moving the boat. Was unable to check the manual one in the cockpit.
--Any electric motors on the deck. Furlers and winches and anchor winch need the relays / electric motors checked and cleaned . Furler engines need a overhaul. when i checked the biggest part of them did not operate at all some for the anchor winch.
--Bilges, there is a thick layer of oil residue in the bilges , due to the facts that the boat was previous flooded in the bilge this has spread throughout the boat. When the boat starts moving under engine and water comes in through the prop shaft or other unexpecting places this could result into a lot of environmental damage . An insurance will not cover for this under the condition that the bilges are clearly polluted . Option would be to have no bilge pumps operating but then if the quantity of water is considerable this could lead to more bigger issues .
--Linking to the above ,the floorboards are extremely swollen which made it impossible to remove them without damaging the current floor .If the sections under the floor are not accessible damage can not be minimized in case of a leak or cleaning can not be done . Due to this a full structural assessment from inside could not be done . A surveyor would want all removal floorboards to be removed . As a consequence , the prop shaft is badly accessible in case of issues as well.
--The cutter sail is ripped what can be seen without rolling it out. Not sure if the sail inside the boat is the replacement for that but at least not to be used. At least show pictures of the ripped sail and notify in the advert that sails are on but condition is unknown.
-- A large part of the deck behind and next to the cockpit is completely gone under the polyester layer. water leakage into the engine room is one of the consequences A clear inspection needs to be done under the deck to see if this impacts the fixings for the frame that that winches are bolted on. Deck should be replaced or reinforces short term if necessary. I estimate that about40to 50percent of the deck needs replacing in total. I went tapping with a hammer stern to bow on the full boat.
--Strong corrosion of the visible through hulls,, should be replaced at the haul out but i would recommend not operating some of them with the risk of breaking them .
-- Navigation lights i could not check all but they need to work before the boat leaves the port.
--Rudder operation, rudder operated with the auto pilot but did not have the feeling that it worked when operated at the wheel.
--Many cracks in the deck can cause a lot of water to come in during rain or rough seas .Cracks need to be covered and later repaired removing the gelcoat around it to let the wood dry out. Take pictures of clearly visible damages and post them with the boat.



Above are the things that are critical for operating the boats safely. Below deck there is a lot of work, recommendations is to rip out the biggest part of the aft cabin the galley and the saloon. Due to the fact that the there was so much water in the bilges of the boat and the several leakages the boat has. The wood is beyond saving and not structural sound anymore .Ceilings throughout the boat need to be all renewed but so are the decks as i explained before . But i think the aft cabin and the biggest part of the galley but saloon need replacing. best would be to remove everything loose from the boat like carpets , matrasses et. that are holding a lot of humidity and water. Take pictures of visble damage like the floor passage between galley and rear cabin,window frames in saloon and the rotten parts in the galley like the fridge on the outside.

I think that the seller would need to allow the boat to stay at its mooring for 1 month after the final completion of the purchase to allow the buyer to be able to take care of the points that need to be taken care of before moving it to a yard but to allow a safe passage to a yard if necessary on the mainland without putting the environment or others in danger .
